| Auburn Engineering Adds Linear Vibration Welding Capabilities |

Rochester Hills, Mich. June 29, 2007– Auburn Engineering, Inc., leading provider of rapid prototyping and production services, has recently added linear vibration welding capabilities to their prototype development services. Linear vibration welding is a frictional application between two or more plastic parts that is capable of creating strong, air-tight welds in thermoplastic parts. By offering customers the ability to produce vibration welding, Auburn Engineering closes the gap between manufacturing of plastics and assembly. Auburn is capable of using its existing CNC tooling resources to build custom vibration fixtures in-house. Auburn’s linear vibration welder has the ability to fill most any need with a 15 HP digital vibrator, for precise control of amplitude, from 0.040" to 0.070" in increments of 0.001". This drive supports an 80 lb. top tool weight capacity and a part size of 48" X 20". Explains Bill Carver, engineer at Auburn Engineering, “Vibration welding is a process that is offered by few companies, and usually has a lead time of 3-4 weeks after first shots off the injection molds. Bringing these capabilities in-house allows us to create the vibration welding fixtures in tandem with our injection molds, yielding welded parts in as soon as one week after first shots. We can offer our customers the ability to incorporate this process for a complete prototype or production development solution at a fraction of the cost of our competitors.” |
