Auburn Engineering, is pleased to announce the availability of a new stereolithography material, DSM Somos® WaterShed™ 11120.  Somos® WaterShed™ 11120 is a low viscosity liquid photopolymer that produces strong, tough, water-resistant parts.  These parts have a light green tint, similar in color to plate glass.  Somos® 11120 offers many properties that mimic traditional engineering plastics including Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene ABS and Polybutylene Terephthalate PBT.  This makes the material ideal for many applications in the automotive, medical and consumer products markets.

The transparent clarity is especially useful for fluid flow analysis to view internal detail.  Parts created form Somos® 11120 have a refractive index of 1.51 compared to that of ABS with a refractive index of 1.52.  1120 is a good general-purpose material.  It is a rigid material hat lends itself to very diverse applications.  Overall, Somos® 11120 is an excellent addition to Auburn’s other stereolithography materials that include Somos® 9920, Please give us a call to identify which solution is best for you.
